In the midst of the chaos of the pandemic in Gray Sloan in Season 17, Jo met little baby Luna. The baby lost his mother due to complications and Jo fell in love with the newborn while she was taking care of him.
When Jo tried to adopt Luna, her application was denied due to a failed background check. Link agreed to foster Luna, which would allow Jo to actually take care of her and hopefully eventually get custody.
By the end of the season 17 finale, Jo had finally adopted Luna. The Grey’s Anatomy season 17 finale was quite the whirlwind. We originally started in August 2020 when we found out that Jo was planning to sell her shares in Gray Sloan in order to hire a good lawyer and get custody of Luna.
In the Season 17 finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Jo finally adopted baby Luna and moved into Jackson’s old home. She also comforted her person, Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack), after he was dumped by Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone).
The biggest shock was when Jo revealed at the aisle that she was pregnant to freak Alex out – until she revealed the truth. Alex was having a spooky day in the Pacific Northwest.

Despite the harrowing circumstances of the birth in April, thanks to Ben, she and the baby are alive and well.
