But lo and behold, In 2021 the Nike Air Huarache experienced a huge boom. We’ve seen collaborations with Stussy, hugely popular retro releases, and even brand new GR pairs. Another nice example of this phenomenon is the current dunk hype.
Huaraches grew in popularity in North America because they became part of the hippie lifestyle of the 1960s. By the late 20th century they could be found throughout North and South America.
Thankfully, huarache style shoes are very versatile and can be worn with just about anything, especially outfits designed for warm weather. There are just a few fashion faux pas to consider when designing a huarache outfit: Don’t wear socks with your huarache sandals.
Age doesn’t slow down the Nike Air Huarache – in fact, it seems to have picked up speed with age. After a strong 30th anniversary in 2021, Tinker Hatfield’s iconic design has continued its momentum well into 2022 with a continuous lineup of retro-inspired colourways.
The fit of most of our huaraches is generally slightly larger. We recommend going down one size if you’re between sizes. We currently have no half sizes available. To be more specific, we’ve included a size chart below so you can compare our US sizes to one of your shoes.
Comfort: The Nike Air Huarache is extraordinarily comfortable – it’s the kind of shoe you can wear all day, every day. The mesh feels comfortable on your feet and the neoprene construction makes the shoe easy to put on and take off.
Huarache sandals are typically sold at indoor craft markets and itinerant tianguis, and typically range in price from MXN 100 and up, depending on the region you buy them in and the style you want choose.
Comfortable, breathable & stylish, they are a wonderful companion for your casual dresses, shorts & the skirts. Wear them with boho-inspired peasant blouses & Cargo shorts or a long maxi skirt & printed t-shirt. I even recommend wearing them with a floaty summer dress with a botanical print.
Huarache sandals are designed to fit close to the foot as the woven leather strips encourage the shoe’s mobility. They are designed to hug the foot snugly and provide excellent ventilation so the wearer does not need to wear socks with them.
Leather is a very durable material, but it is sensitive to moisture. Therefore, it is best not to expose your huaraches to water. However, we all know that sometimes we just can’t help it. You can use a waterproofing spray to protect your huaraches from absorbing water and dust.
What is this? Underfoot it feels like you’re sinking into a really thick squishy layer that’s pretty comfortable to walk around all day. Despite the overall chunky shape and midsole, the huaraches aren’t really that heavy either.
Place the huaraches on a platter. Cover each with a layer of warm, chilled beans. Garnish with beef, romaine lettuce, onions, cilantro and cheese. Drizzle with the sour cream sauce.
But in 2019, Skechers are back baby – and they’re more aesthetic than ever. The dad sneaker trend isn’t going anywhere (just ask the Spring/Summer 2020 runways), so you might as well buckle up for the sneaker ride of a lifetime.
Around 2016 it seemed that everyone who wanted huaraches had managed to secure their own pair, leading to an inevitable decline in popularity. They sat on the shelves for a while and Nike finally stopped producing the model and shifted the budget elsewhere.
